Director Agri chairs meet under State CAPEX Plan

Jammu, Nov 8 Director Agriculture, Jammu, P.S. Rathore convened a meeting of officers at Krishi Bhawan, Talab Tillo, Jammu today to review the progress under State CAPEX plan and Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He stressed for strict adherence to norms and guidelines while implementation of farmers welfare Schemes and asked the officers to expedite the timely utilization of funds to ensure maximum expenditure at the earliest. He also reviewed the progress of establishment of Permanent Foodgrain Procurement Mandies in Jammu and Kathua and in respect of Mushroom Corridor Project in Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts for which provision has been kept in CAPEX 2019-20. Besides it was further impressed upon the officers to upload the required data of all beneficiary oriented activities under Centrally Sponsored/ State Sector Schemes on relevant official DBT-portals. A documentary on Summer Apple Cultivation was also released by Director Agriculture on the occasion. Summer Apple (Harmann- 99) is best adapted for cultivation in sub-tropical areas of Jammu and bears fruit after thirteen months of planting. Harmann-99 Apple, when grown as intercrop with different vegetable crops can fetch the good returns to farmers besides providing nutritional benefits. Director Agriculture asked for popularization of this new intervention as one of the measures towards achieving the goal of doubling the farmer’s income by 2022. The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs), H.S. Mankotia, Deputy Director Agriculture (Central), Ravinder Thaploo, Deputy Director Agriculture (Trainings), Rajinder Sharma, Deputy Director (Planning), Reshu Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officers of all Districts of Jammu Division besides sectoral heads of different Schemes of Agriculture Department.
