Fuzhou, Nov 7 India's challenge in singles events at Fuzhou China Open 2019 ended with World No. 11 Sai Praneeth crashing out in the 2nd round on Thursday. Sai Praneeth came up with a valiant fight in a tricky 2nd-round clash against 4th seed Anders Antonsen. Despite losing the 1st game 20-22, Sai forced a decider only to go down in an hour and 24 minutes. Eventually, the reigning World Championship bronze medalist was ousted after a 20-22, 22-20, 16-21 defeat in the 2nd round. Sai Praneeth has been among the few positives for India in the men's singles circuit in 2019. While his compatriots of the likes of Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy and Sameer Verma are struggling for form, Sai won the bronze medal at the world meet in Basel. However, he has struggled to follow it up with consistent performances since then. Earlier in the day, India's Parupalli Kashyap suffered a 2nd-round exit after losing in straight games to former World No. 1 Viktor Axelsen.
