46-yr-old inter-State arms smuggler nabbed

The sleuths of Special Cell of Delhi Police have arrested a 46-year-old inter-State arms and ammunition trafficker in the national Capital. Police have also recovered 110 cartridges .315 and .32 bore from the possession of the accused.
The accused has been identified as Harveer, a resident of Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and he has been indulged in trafficking illegal arms and ammunition for last 16 years. Police said that after a reward of Rs 50,000 was put on his head, he was rampantly changing his hideouts to evade police arrest.
According to Pramod Singh Kushwaha, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, on April 30 this year, two inter-state arms and ammunition traffickers were arrested by Special Cell, who, during the interrogation, revealed that they had come to deliver the illegal weapons and ammunition to Harveer residing somewhere in Badarpur, Delhi.
"Efforts were made to apprehend Harveer but he was found to have vacated his rented house at Khadda Colony in Delhi's Badarpur area. Finally, on August 13, the police team stationed at Aligarh got specific input that accused Harveer is residing in a rented house at Shivpuri in Aligarh," said the DCP.
"Acting on the inputs, the police team raided the place of information and arrested accused Harveer," said the DCP.
"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he has hidden a cache of illicit cartridges in his village Kurana. Immediately, a police team left from Aligarh and with the assistance of local police of Tappal (UP), the team conducted raid at his village Kurana and seized 110 live cartridges," said the DCP adding that the accused used to procure illegal weapons from Khargone and Sandhwa of Madhya Pradesh and ammunition from Meerut and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
