TV actor's husband molests 21-year-old stepdaughter for two years, held

The husband of a leading TV actress was arrested on Sunday after being accused of molesting his wife's daughter from a previous marriage.

He was remanded to police custody till Tuesday by a magistrate court on Monday. An FIR was lodged at the Samta Nagar police station.

According to the complaint, the accused was sexually harassing his 21-year-old stepdaughter since October, 2017.

He would use abusive language with her, show her obscene photographs of women on his cellphone and even make inappropriate comments about her body.

The accused had hit his stepdaughter on a few occasions and even threatened to harm her mother.

Police said that the girl stayed quiet for two years as she thought that it was a family matter.

"But when she could not take it anymore, she confided in her mother on Sunday. Her mother immediately brought her to the police station around 1:45 pm," an officer from Samta Nagar police station said, according to the Times of India.

A case of sexual harassment, assault and intimidation has been registered under the Indian Penal Code, besides provisions of Information Technology Act, against the accused.

The 38-year-old accused has featured on a couple of television shows. He has a son with the actress.
