India is the world’s largest democratic nation and ranks second population wise. It has different cultures, regions and seasons in different parts. In such a country a large number of men with fully equipped machinery are required to tackle with natural calamities and other emergencies. But with high number of population it has been seen that those at the helm of affairs care least about the precious human lives and remain reluctant to learn any lesson from the incidents that occur claiming human lives. Disaster Management Force required to be equipped with machinery as per the requirement of the city. At a time when India is launching its space missions with the lowest possible cost it is astonishing that the disaster management is poor and incapable of dealing with natural calamities and emergencies. During rainy season India witnesses heavy rainfall across the nation and some of the states are flood prone. Every year these states witnesses’ massive floods and precious lives are lost. Following its unique topography India witnesses natural calamities like earthquakes, cyclones in coastal areas, floods and landslides in plains during Monsoon, thunderstorms, avalanches in areas which witnesses heavy snowfall and building collapses. To deal with all these emergencies and weather vagaries a well equipped force in adequate number is required almost in all the states. In the recent case of the Mumbai building collapse it has been observed that there was nothing anything in the name of disaster management as the building collapsed was in the interior and heavy machinery could not be moved to rescue those trapped under the rubble. Similarly, the floods which are claiming innocent lives in Bihar have yet to get a help from the rescue teams. The disaster management system needs to be strengthened so that in cases of emergencies it can be tackled effectively.
