Women are empowered now: Pooja Malhotra

Pooja Malhotra, an eminent educationist and social activist of the state, Family Committee President of Special Olympics Bharat JK State, Charter President International Innerwheel Club Jammu, Chairperson Taawiah Group of Educational Trust, Founder Patron of J&K Speed Ball Association and Karata Do Association in conversation with Young Bites correspondent Pooja Thaker share her views on social activities. Q. How did you become an educationalist? PM: It all started after my marriage. I got married in a well to do family and my in-laws were living a lavish life. Going to clubs, organizing parties, playing cards were part of their daily life which was actually a new thing for me as my parents were fuddyduddy and the females in my parental family were not allowed for all this. I requested my father-in-law that I want to work and his reply was: “No need to work, we have everything you just enjoy your life”. Then I requested my husband that I want to fulfill my aim. He supported me for opening a pre nursery school. Q. What social activities you did till now? PM: When I opened my school I contacted SOS Child Care, Narwal and asked them to send 3-5 years children who were given free education by my school. I helped many poor and needy students to continue their studies that were dropouts following their financial condition. Out of my savings I use to aware women regarding their rights and the importance of education for their children. Q. How many awards you received? PM: I am not doing social work for any award and praise. But so many committees and NGOs have awarded me. I got honored by many Jammu based and national level NGOs. Now I am serving children and women at international level. I also have a certificate of appreciation by Satya Pal Malik (Governor J&K). Message: Now women are empowered, that’s why we are serving at international level.
