Dr Rajeev Sharma
(Physician), Superintendent, District Hospital Sarwal in conversation with Young Bites correspondent Pooja Thakur urges people to remain aware about the eating habits and lifestyle during seasonal change.
Q. What precautions should we take against viral infections?
Dr: As we have different seasonal conditions in Jammu & Kashmir and during the change of every season there are apprehensions of spread of viral infections which are sometimes communicable. During the change of climate we have to take precautions and adopt different types of eating habits. During summers human bodies get dehydrated because of soaring temperature and heatwave. In this season human body requires plenty of water which can be fulfilled from seasonal fruits like watermelon, melon, cucumber and other luscious fruits.
During this season there are apprehensions of spreading epidemic like malaria and dengue which are life threatening diseases. To avoid them we should take precautions and avoid exposure to mosquitoes. We should use mosquito’s nets and repellents besides so many creams available in the market to keep mosquitoes away.
Message: Prevention is better than cure.
