Jammu, May 19
Government Polytechnic College (GPC), Jammu has gone hi-tech by installing Radio frequency Identification (RFID) and has become the first college to use technology by issuing smart cards to the students for marking their attendance.
Principal of the College when contact told Youngbites that technology is being used in every government office for marking attendance with biometric but none of the college has opted to use technology for marking attendance of students.
It is being done manually in every college. “We have adopted the technology and have installed RIFD which will be a milestone in the education sector. A smart card will be issued to every student and he/she has to swipe it for marking attendance. As soon as the student will swipe the card a sms will be sent to the parents who will come to know the exact time to entering their ward into the college. It will minimize the chances of bunks and proxy attendance. The students now would never be able to tell their parents a lie. The parents will now get the details of their wards entering college and leaving college” the Principal added.
