TOSEEF R GANAI Poonch, May 17 Jammu University had declared the result of 1st Semester of the regular candidates and the result so declared was beyond expectation for the students of Government Degree College, Poonch. The result is so poor that only 70 students managed to get through out of 1250 students. In Mendhar tehsil the result is also very poor where only 5% of the total students have managed to pass in different streams. The Degree Colleges were opened in tehsil and district levels to facilitate the students and improve higher level education rate but the poor result of these colleges presented a gloomy picture. The intellectuals and parents of the students have blamed the different departments in the colleges and their irresponsible behavior towards the students for poor result. The parents and the intellectuals have shifted the onus on the staff of the colleges for poor performances. They said that it is the matter of the credibility of the lecturers and professors too who have failed to show exemplary result. However, the students have blamed the marking system of the Jammu University following which they failed to yield good marks. It has not happened for the first time but the Degree College Poonch is witnessing very poor result from the last many years. The parents and intellectuals showing concern over the poor result have demanded placement of permanent Lecturers and Professors in these colleges having adequate experience. The students have also appealed Jammu University to lower down the fee amount of re-evaluation, retest examination because most of the students belong to poor families who cannot afford high re-evaluation fee.
