BHADERWAH RESIDENTS RUE POWER SCARCITY

KAMRAN KHAN Bhaderwah, May 13 Despite tall claims of the government of making the State of Jammu and Kashmir power reliant the residents of Bhaderwah have rued power scarcity and that too during the holy month of Ramadan. The residents of various areas of Bhaderwah today complained that they are not getting regular power supply in the month of Ramadan. The residents accused the Power Development Department (PDD) of not adhering to the curtailment schedule. Even metered areas are facing crisis, the residents alleged. The situation in unmetered and remote areas of Bhaderwah is most awful as they are facing unprecedented power crisis. We were assured to get 24X7 power supply but their promises proved to be hoax, the Bhaderwah residents alleged. Similar reports were received from remote villages Thanala and Sharekhi. Many Areas have acute power shortage. Scores of residents of Bhaderwah and other villages complained that power plays hide and seek even peak hours. They said that the unscheduled power cuts have become order of the day and students are the worst sufferers. Not only this, Bhaderwah town faces power curtailment at Iftari and Sehri following which the people are annoyed. Despite assurance from PDD that there will be no be power curtailment during Iftar and Sehri, there is no respite. With sufficient availability of electricity this time the PDD should not have resorted to unscheduled power cut that too during Iftar and Sehri,” said locals, adding that one fails to understand why this load shedding is carried during the holy Ramadan. They said that were paying electricity dues in time and yet were reeling under darkness people.
