ER ABHA GUPTA Jammu, Apr 22 Dr. Rajni Gupta is working as a gynecologist in the Govt Hospital. She says that women should give utmost importance to her health and consult doctor whenever she feels changes in her body. She says that “If women wants to empower herself, first she should be Self-confident. If she believes in herself, then nobody can stop her”. Q: Whom you give the credit of your success? Dr: I belong to a mediocre family, when I was in 6th Standard my mother died because of chronic renal failure. Whatever I am today is because of support of my brothers, he supported me a lot financially and emotionally. Q: What was your aim in your childhood? Dr: I was very good at studies. From my childhood I wanted to become a doctor. Q: What was the happiest moment in your life? Dr: In the 1987 when my name was announced on radio for being selected in MBBS was the happiest moment of my life. The whole day I waited for my result and the announcement was made that ’530 is selected’, I was so happy. Q: What is more difficult medical studies or practice? Dr: Doing MBBS is a very tough thing, then after that PG is also tough because one has to study very hard in medical field. When one goes into professional field, every day is a challenge. In the medical field, we say, “Every patient is a new patient” especially in Gyane. Q: What of the difficulties you faced in remote areas in comparison to the city area? Dr: The main issue in remote areas is that people go to quacks or take pills without any prescription. This is really dangerous. In gyne every treatment is provided free of cost. So patients should consult their doctor before taking any pills. From first visit to delivery every treatment is free of cost. They should consult a doctor for even minor thing, self-treatment is very dangerous. Q: What precautions must be taken by women? Dr: When a girl child grows towards puberty, she experiences many hormonal changes, it is the responsibility of the mother to take care of her and if they find any problem they should consult a doctor. Q: What is the common problem faced by women? Dr. Our country is developing and most patients are not financially good. So some ladies hide their problems. They do not share it with anyone, but in ladies, the infection rate is bit high so they have to consult with a doctor
