Engineering Students fear losing year, jobs due to delay in result

Students of various private and government engineering colleges are worried due to the university’s inability to deliver the results of seventh semester examination students in time.
Even after passing of couple of months beyond the fixed guidelines, the seventh semester examination which were held in December 2018 the University has not come up to the expectation of engineering students.
Talking to Young Bites correspondent aggrieved students of seventh semester who are waiting for their result said that the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) examination of the 7th semester of the 2014-18 batch and previous batches was held on December 24, 2018, but the results were yet to be declared by the University of Jammu.
The university’s inability to deliver the results well in time has left scoresof such students in the lurch. From uncertainty over future admissions, job rejections and the inability to meet deadlines, students have had a tumultuous couple of months.
It is pertinent to mention here that as per the varsity rules, the results shall be declared within 60 days and in no case later than 75 days of the respective dates of completion of the examination.
Expressing strong resentment against the University authorities’ students said that the authorities have put our future at stake. They added that if the results were declared well in time it would have enable us to apply for junior engineer posts released by the Railway Recruitment Board and other posts in the government and non-governmental organisations.
Talking to Young Bites Correspondent Vaneet Sharma said that ff the results are not declared soon, the students will have to wait for almost a year to appear in various exams. It would be appreciable if the university declares the results sooner to secure the future of students. While several students are worried of a year drop, a debate over the quality of assessment has left students concerned over discrepancies in results.
