As a lull prevails along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan after a fortnight-long exchange of heavy fire, the Army is on high alert anticipating “shallow infiltration” by terror groups.
As per the reports there were 1629 ceasefire violations along Line of Control in 2018 and this year 478 ceasefire violations have already taken place along LoC. There is strict vigil being kept along the LoC, keeping an eye on developments along the 740-km LoC stretching from Poonch in Jammu region to Kupwara in north Kashmir, after strong retaliation is faced by Pakistan by our Security forces during past couple of days of escalated tension between two countries.
Presently the security forces along the border are in high alert mode after the information that Pakistan may adopt age-old “shoot-and-scoot” warfare technique by sending terrorists into the Indian side and cause some damage.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday issued a stern warning to terrorist forces targeting India, saying the country cannot keep suffering forever.
"Enough is enough," he said, while referring to the terror attacks in Pulwama + and Uri. "We cannot keep suffering till eternity."
It is pertinent to mention here that heavy firing was reported along the LoC after the February 14 terror strike on a convoy in south Kashmir's Pulwama that left 40 CRPF personnel laid their life in line of service. It further escalated after an air strike by Indian Air Force at a Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp in Balakot, deep inside Pakistani territory.
Although there is uneasy calm now but intelligence inputs suggest that Pakistan Army may push terrorists to carry out shoot-and-scoot attacks,
Recent inputs suggest that heavily armed members of two Pakistan-backed terrorist outfits are waiting to infiltrate into the Indian side from the opposite side of Rajouri near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, according to inputs gathered by the intelligence agencies.
As per the inputs, one group comprising at least five Pakistan-trained terrorists have reportedly arrived in Nikial in a black colour vehicle directly from Kotli terror camp in the PoK.
In the past also there are instances of Jawans being martyred from a close range using various methods, including knife attack or planting an improvised explosive device (IED) on routes taken by Indian Army patrol teams, reports say. Many a time, they come barely a few hundred metres into the Indian side, fire at a patrol party and run back to their side amidst Pakistani troops providing them cover by firing at Indian posts.
In view of the specific intelligence inputs, security has been heightened across the state and the security agencies have been directed to remain on high alert mode.
