DC Reasi holds press briefing; calls for democracy celebration

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Reasi, Indu Kanwal Chib today conducted a press briefing for media persons at her office chamber here today. The briefing came in wake of recently announced Parliamentary elections.
Through her press briefing, DC Reasi asked all political workers, government officials and others for strict compliance of Model Code of Conduct. She also briefed the media fraternity that SVEEP activities will be intensified in upcoming days in the district. DEO Indu Kanwal Chib stressed on considering elections as ‘celebration of democracy’ instead of calling it just election exercise.
Keeping in view record voting during urban local bodies’ elections, in the district, DC Indu said that efforts would be put to better the past record. She also hoped to witness greater participation by women, first-time voters and most importantly PWD voters. “Media Certification & Monitoring Cell would soon be constituted”, she added.
It is pertinent to mention that the elections in the state will be held in five phases. The first phase will be held on April 11, second on April 18, third on April 23, fourth on April 29, and last on May 6. The results of Lok Sabha elections 2019 will be declared on May 23.
