* SRO 43 SHOULD BE FLEXIBLE AS PER FAMILY’S REQUIREMENT.

--------------
The series “Shaheedo ko Naman, Empower the ‘Veer Naris’” has been started in an initiative by Young Bites not only to remember the martyrs of the nation but to convey a social message to the society to take care of the families of the martyr, to empower the ‘Veer Naris’. It is the responsibility of the Society to give moral support to the ‘Veer Naris’ and their children.
---------------------
‘VEER NARI’ SAYS:
* INDIAN ARMY HAS ALWAYS HELPED FROM TIME TO TIME.
* RAJYA SAINIK BOARD DIRECTOR, BRIG HAR CHARAN SINGH HAS ALWAYS STOOD BE HIND THE MARTYR FAMILIES.
* SOCIETY FORGETS VERY SOON.
--------------
RFN Rifleman Pawan Singh attained martyrdom in Anantnag during a militant search operation. YoungBites correspondent got an opportunity to interact with the wife of martyr to know about the early life and how life changes post martyrdom. ‘Veer Nari’ recalls that she got married t an early age of 19 years and always felt proud of being a wife of soldier. She says that her husband always gave im- portance to his duty and then to his family. She says that hardly they have celebrated any festival together.
Veer Nari says that on the day of martyrdom everyone from society, MLAs and so many officials came to her home, which she not even remembers, but post martyrdom, the society forgets very easily.
Veer Nari says that Army never forgets, Rashtriya Rifles Anantnag where her husband was deployed often remembers them. She also appreciates the efforts of Rajya Sainik Board and the Director Brig Harcharan Singh who from time to time enquires about the well being of her family.
‘Veer Nari’ says that her son wanted to join Army, but there was no on to guide him, she feels the void in her life due to absence of her husband as well as due to negligence by the society.
If we talk about Punjab or other states, the bureaucrats often go to the martyrs families and they help them in doing various official works, which the family does not know how to do, but this scenario is not in our state. In our state the martyrs are remembered on some particular days only.
There are many reforms which need to be made. ‘Veer Nari’ says that she got a job as per SRO 43, but for that job she had to a lot of struggle. As per SRO 43, next to kin of martyr gets a job, but there is a time limit of 5 years, but many times the children are very young for any job, hence the family does not gets the benefit of SRO 43. Hence there has to be flexibility in SRO 43 so that the family of martyr does not suffer.
At the end a small request to the society: Please visit the martyr families at their home. Ask the ‘Veer Naris’, Veer Mata’ that we are always with them. Help their children in career counseling. Give them respect. Bow heads whenever we meet them. Never forget that the supreme sacrifice was made for us.
