The road from holy city Katra to a small village Tikri which then connects to National Highway to Udhampur-Patnitop-Kashmir describes the negligence of administration in building the 14kms significant stretch which is giving hard time and testing the driving skills of the drivers on this killer road.
It is significant because the tourists after paying visit to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi use same road to visit famous patnitop and then Kashmir. Also, the Narayana hospital in Karkyal village finds its way through this katra-Tikri stretch.
But, unfortunately this 14 kms stretch is a death trap especially in rainy season. The negligence of administration is such that there are a number of huge potholes on the road which are deadly. There have been numerous incidents which have caused serious accidents and even taken lives. But, the administration has turned blind eye to this important 14 km stretch.
When locals were asked about this situation, they expressed their grief how sometimes they find it hard to reach Narayanan hospital on time, in serious cases, due to this broken and vanished road. The people are suffering as their cars get damaged due to deep ptoholes. Apparently, this stretch of katra-Tikri leads to DPS school, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi University and of course, Sri Mata Vaishno Devi narayana hospital.
The worse is the whole patch of jhajjar that is almost 1.5 kms and all of that has turned into the stretch of numerous potholes. To drive on such a road is next to impossible and there are small accidents on daily basis. The question is how Katra could be an iconic city if the roads leading to the town have been in merciful condition for years.
