e-Challan will bring transparency in system: Dr S P vaid

YoungBites correspondent interacted with Transport Commissioner Dr S P Vaid to know about the e-challaning being introduced in transport department.
Dr SP Vaid gave details about the e-Challan system:
e-challaning is a technology which is being incorporated for traffic regulation. J&K is fifth state where e-challan has been introduced in India. This system has been incorporated in collaboration with HDFC Bank and NIC. HDFC payment gateway will be used for the payments.
Machines will be given to transport officers and traffic officers. In these machines as we will give the vehicle number all the details pertaining with the vehicle will come automatically. Details like name of owner, which year the vehicle was registered, what offence was done by the driver like overloading, over speeding, how much fine he has to pay etc. Payment can be done via debit credit card or cash. On the spot receipt will be given. In case the driver does not want to pay the fine, the challan will be automatically transferred to court.
With this system transport officer, traffic officers will be empowered, anonymity will be maintained. This system will bring transparency, the e-challan will be networked with ‘vahan’, ‘sarathi’ App. If any vehicle from outside state comes in J&K and violates the rules, it will be added to his record and later on he will face problems in renewing licenses and registration.
It is a good system for common man. For the common man there will be various options of payments like debit card, credit card or cash. People will not face unnecessary harassment, there will be transparency and the system will be corruption free.
