Visitors suffer due to engagement of staff on poll duty

As the panchayat election are being held, day to day work in various government offices has been hampered due to majority of the employees have been put on panchayat duty.
Those who are visiting various government offices said they needed to return home with utter displeasure as several employees are on poll duty. The department of income, transport, lodging, social welfare, training, youth and sports and farming have been severely influenced because of the deficiency of staff.
Those who are visiting in said departments said that the normal work has come to a haltl in most due to non availability of staff and whenever we visits a government office, we are asked to come after the last phase of the panchayat elections (December 11 ) as the staff is on election duty.
As employees are on election duty, others are sitting inactive in their workplaces. It appears their job is assigned to advice individuals for visiting after December 11. Contrary to that on the off chance that some of them are in the workplace, they should, do their work appropriately.
An official on condition of anonymity said the employees on poll duty have been send on the request of election department and it but natural that routine office work is bound to hamper causing inconvenience to the visitors.
It is worthwhile to mention here that every time during elections lot of manpower is required and the authorities have to face the shortage of staff. To meet the requirement the staff from various department is hired on temporary basis, knowing the fact that normal work culture will be affected. Thousands of government employees were earlier sent for election training and then for the poll duty also.
