Categorically, Blue Revolution needs to be implemented to achieve economic prosperity of fishermen and fish farmers and to contribute towards food and nutritional security through optimum utilization of water resources for fisheries development.
Central and State Schemes should be implemented to increase both fish production and fish productivity from aquaculture and fisheries resources of the inland and marine fisheries.
Notably, ‘Blue Revolution’, utilizing the prospects of blue growth resources. Blue revolution will definitely energise India’s attempts to boost food production
However, the authorities should take a keen interest in finding solutions to the issues of fish farmers who voluntarily can contribute to state economy.
Pertinently, referring to the degradation of coastal ecosystem, serious attention is required to protect natural environment. Dumping of industrial and other wastes into the rivers and nallahs has caused excessive accumulation of plastic wastes in the marine ecosystem among many other environmental issues.
Interestingly, Blue Revolution mission aims at doubling the income of farmers. This will create employment opportunities to fisher folks and other entrepreneurs in fishing and allied activities and attract private investment in creation and management of fisheries infrastructure facilities. Government should help in the creation of fisheries infrastructure facilities both in inland fisheries sectors, which would boast fish production and help achieve target set under Blue revolution.
