With only couple of months left for the various yearly exams of Classes X and XII, the ongoing syllabus and curriculum of students in government schools is probably going to endure because of deputing of teachers in the upcoming Panchayat elections to be held in between November 17 and December 11 in 9 phases.
Even the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has rebuked the state for poor show of students after the National Achievement Survey uncovered the poor learning capacities of students, particularly those who concentrate in government schools.
It is pertinent to mention here that the annual board examinations of various secondary and higher secondary classes are conducted by the JKBOSE every year in March-April.
The deployment of teachers on Panchayat election duty comes when a most of schools are planning to conduct pre-board tests after the consummation of prescribed syllabus so that students can face in the upcoming board exams to be held in March –April 2019. The list of nearly 500 teachers to be deployed in various districts of Jammu division had already been submitted for poll duty to the concerned Deputy Commissioners.
Talking to Young Bites correspondent Ashish Sawhney a teacher said that it is unfortunate that the authorities are taking the services of teachers at a time when previous records have shown the poor state of performance in the previous results.
“The deployment of teachers for Panchayat election is indeed a sorry state of affairs as it will take a toll on the preparation as well as result of board exams, which was not very good in the past. It can be gauged from the fact that in the Class X examination of the summer zone, the result of which was declared in May this year, 22,390 candidates did not qualify, he added
It is worthwhile to mention here that Panchayat elections would be held in 9 phases on November 17, 20, 24, 27, 29 and December 01, 04, 08 and 11.
Even in the Class XII board examination, of the total 2,460 candidates that were declared failed, a majority of them were from government schools.
