Though the General Sales Tax (GST) has been implemented in the state, but still the government is charging double tax from the traders at Lakahnpur.
“As per rules, when the GST has been implemented in the state, then there is no need to charge any other tax from the traders, but in our state, there are no rules, due to which the traders are suffering badly as they has to pay the GST as well as the tax at the Lakahnpur for their consignments,” said Ved Raj Sharma, State Convenor, BJP Trade and Industry Cell.
“In every other state of our country, the traders are paying only single tax in the name of GST but in our state, we have to pay tax for our consignments at Lakhanpur. Every trader has to pay Rs 80 per quintal to get his consignment from the officials, this toll tax is in addition to the GST that every trader has already being paid,” Sharma Said.
To discuss this discrimination with the traders, we have talked to the higher authorities, but still there is no final decision taken from their side, as the result the traders are forced to pay this toll tax.
In every state, the toll plazas are made for to generate the taxes from the visitors, but in our state, there are different policies. They are charging the taxes from the traders, when they already are paying their taxes,” said Surinder Gupta, a trader in City Chownk area.
“As being heading the trade and Industry cell, it is our duty to provide some relaxation to the trading community, so that they can run their business establishments as per the rules and should save their money, which they are being forced to pay to the government,” Said Gupta. “We will talk to the concerned authorizes once again and hope that something fruitful should be come out in favor of our traders, who are earning the money after facing many hardships,” Gupta asserted.
