In order to make the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to make the entire country fully electrified before the ending of deadline, which is already fixed by the PM Modi, the state government today flagged off Saubhagya Rath.
“The Rath is being flagged off with the mission to make our state 100 percent electrified,” said a senior PDD official.
“Electric, M&RE, Division-III , on achieving 100% household electrification in the area falling under its jurisdiction under the ‘Saubhagya' scheme, today launched ‘Saubhagya Rath’.
The rath flagged off by the Chief Engineer, EMRE-Wing Er. Sudhir Gupta from his office at Canal road, Jammu.
Superintending Engineer, EMRE, Circle-I, Karam Chand, Executive Engineer, Electric, M&RE, Division-III, Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Executive Engineer, Electric, M&RE, Division-II, Mr. P D Singh, Executive Engineer, Electric, M&RE, Division-I, Neel Kanwal Singh, Assistant Executive Engineer, Electric, M&RE, Sub-Division-I, Canal, Anil Abrol, concerned Junior Engineers and field staff were present during the flag-off ceremony.
After completing the twelve month long electrification process/ drive under the Saubhagya scheme started from its launch in October 2017, the ‘Saubhagya Rath’ was intended as a last step to rule out the possibility of any left-over/ missed out household. The ‘Rath’ will move in all blocks/ villages according to the schedule advertised in the press. The ‘Rath’ started off from the Office of Chief Engineer, EMRE Wing, Jammu and covered the length and breadth of entire Marh Block on Monday. While moving on its schedule, 3 leftover electricity connections were reported from border villages which were provided on spot connection by the Rath In-charge. As anticipated, the ‘Saubhagya Rath’ served the motive to reach out to each and every household to enable them to avail electricity connection under Saubhagya scheme, if anyone remains un-electrified. Under the Saubhagya scheme, the poor households (covered under SECC 2011) were provided electricity connections free of cost and non-poor rural households (not found eligible as per SECC 2011) were provided electricity connections on payment of Rs.500 recoverable in 10 installments in subsequent bills.
Ex En, EMRE-III, Jammu, Sanjay Sharma informed that his entire team was on toes for accomplishment of this mission of achieving 100% household electrification. “We organized more than 450 camps in a period of 1 month for providing on-spot electricity connections under the scheme and the response/ support from public has been heart-warming, which helped us to achieve this big target much before the stipulated timeline” he added. Through this ‘Saubhagya Rath’, public is further appealed to report any un-electrified household which might have been missed out. ‘Saubhagya Rath’ will be covering the areas under Bhalwal, Khour and Akhnoor Blocks in next three days.
