Women Empowerment / 90% infections are caused due to bad hand hygiene: Dr Veena

Dr Veena is presently working as Infection Control Officer in Super Specialty Hospital.
Talking about her journey so far she says that her aim right from childhood was to become a doctor, and the inspiration comes from her parents who are doctors. Childhood was spent in Kashmir but during the days of turmoil they were uprooted from their birth place. In spite of hardships, their studies were never compromised. In Jammu she joined MBBS and then got married later.
But she thanks her parents, in laws and husband as they were quiet supportive and always motivated her to follow her dreams. With the support of her husband she was able to complete her MD. Although she says that it was hard to pursue the studies as her 2 children also needed her attention. But a well planned time management helped her to complete her studies.
Dr Veena has also worked in Batra hospital and later she became Lecturer in microbiology. Presently she is infection control officer in Super Specialty Hospital. Her present portfolio is on making awareness on infection control she says that infection in hospital acquired for both patients and doctors. Hand hygiene is utmost important for killing all the infections. She says that 90% infections are due to bad hygiene of hands.
On Women empowerment, she says that today the woman is much empowered. A Woman is mother, daughter, wife etc. She has to play so many roles and she is playing all the roles in a very efficient manner.
Message to women folk:” Be confident, you can do anything, time management is very important, Work hard and touch the sky”.
