Jasmeet Kaur is a multifaceted woman. She is an advocate as well as social activist. She is actively involved in politics. Born in Udhampur district, then moved to Jammu for her law studies.
She cleared KAS written twice, but could not clear interview both times. But she never got disappointed and later joined politics as well as social work.
Being a lady advocate, she takes no fee from the women who face domestic violence and other hardships of life. She tries to solve their problem and this way career and social work both goes side by side. She thinks that during the regime of PDP women have been empowered. Various schemes like Marriage Assistance, “ladli beti” , scooty schemes were only meant for girls or women. Other than this the stamp duty was abolished. So the schemes are meant for empowering the women. In the Panchayti act 33 % reservation has been given to the women during PDP regime.
She thinks that today’s women is well empowered. Not only she is working, but she also takes care of her family very well. On the rising rape cases she says that is a very serious issue, male dominating society needs to be changed. The mentality of males of the family should be changed. The laws for such crimes should be made hard and the people should be aware of the punishments of these heinous crimes.
Message to the society: ”Society is advanced, ladies are getting empowered, today women is in every sector, 33% reservation is for women in Panchayati elections. The male mentality at home needs to be changed as “the charity begins at home”.
