Malvika Kalra is a vegan. She started her journey as a Vegan from last 5 years. This humble lady became a vegan when she saw the image of cow slaughter. The image changed her mind set towards animals.
Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. Vegans refrain from consuming animal products, not only meat but also eggs, dairy products and other animal-derived substances. Vegan is the term derived from vegetarian, veg+an(first 3 and last 2 alphabets).
She says that not many people know that the Leather industry, beef industry are part of dairy industry. She explains the difference between vegan and vegetarian as vegetarian can wear leather, silk clothes whereas a vegan will not wear any thing that is derived from animals because these clothers involve animal cruelty.
She thinks that men in our society exploit women because they think that men are superior, in the same way humans exploit animals because the humans think that they are superior to animals. She feels that animals and humans are similar, both have feelings. So vegans always try to not to be cruel with animals.
She has started giving lectures for becoming vegan to the university students. She thinks that the youth of today are more receptive for change. Her agenda is to bring awareness about veganism to the youth of Jammu.
