Ever growing garbage dump at Sanasar is glaring example of mockery of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan being implemented by authorities in letter and spirit.
The Sanasar lake which is the top attraction for tourists has now turned into a dumping ground for f waste and garbage.Even though authorities have put a sign board depicting that its not a civic area yet piles and heaps of garbage completely show the apathy of the authorities which have failed to prevail the civic sense in the area which owes a great significance.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Sanasar Lake is located at a distance of about 20 kilometers from Patnitop. Amidst Lush green grassy landscapes with pine trees the lake remain a significant choice for the tourists visiting Patnitop. But the Patnitop Development Authority has miserably failed to take care of cleanliness of the surroundings.
Mismanagement of waste has resulted in grave environmental challenges to lakes and wetlands, underlining the need for an urgent and comprehensive waste management strategy for this beautiful lake.
The visitors who happen to visit here return disappointed as heaps of garbage and solid waste is not only emanating stinking smell but is posing serious threat to ecology of the area.
Talking to Young Bites Correspondent Ankita Gandotra said that the garbage including biodegradable and non-biodegradable have accumulated at various spots which is adversely not only affecting the forest wealth but also depicts the non serious approach adopted by the authorities to maintain the cleanliness.
She added that either the authorities do not have proper mechanism to dump the garbage or they are acting as a toothless tiger and instead of solving the issue and sopping the littering of garbage have put a blind eye even after installing a sign board resulting into continue throw of the solid waste material in the lush green forests.
