Mubarak Mandi Palace is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Jammu. A grand complex of dilapidated medieval buildings, the Mubarak Mandi complex is a palace situated in the oldest part of the city of Jammu. The palace comprises of multiple elegant and exquisite buildings of architectural excellence. The architecture of the palace is borrowed from European Baroque, Mughal and Rajasthani styles, bringing forth a unique blend of different cultures. The oldest structure is believed to be built in the early 1800s. The palace was the royal residence of rulers of the Dogra Dynasty. Located strategically, the palace stands tall having a commanding view of the river Tawi. Mubarak Mandi is a Palace in Jammu. The palace was the royal residence of the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir from the Dogra dynasty.
Mubarak Mandi Palace is the rich cultural heritage of Dogras, Jammu.. It also has a museum where very important and precious jewels, clothes, arms, utensils and painting etc are placed. The palace is in destructive position but the authority has taken the initiative of renovating it and the work has been started. Once completed it will be again the Royal residence. The halls and galleries were used for official functions and ceremonies.
This is really awesome place to visit. It will take you back to the time of Raja Maharajas. You would love to spend sometime there and also love to watch the amazing architect. But human encroachment there will also make you realize that these beautiful monuments wouldn't exist for longer time.
It is a heritage site of Jammu & Kashmir, but totally ruined, now restoring, but they way they are doing, it is called reconstruction.Very very poorly managed by the Govt amd even the people living in the near by localities.
Mubarak Mandi Palace is one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Jammu, the Pink Palace, Gol Ghar Complex, Nawa Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Hawa Mahal. It is one of the important historic heritage sites of the state. The architecture is a mix of Rajasthani architecture and European baroque, and Mughal styles.
Mubarak Mahal palace was constructed in the early 19th Century. It was the residence of rulers of Dogra dynasty who ruled Jammu for nearly 100 years. The last ruler of the dogra dynasty who occupied this palace was Maharaja Hari Singh. The palace is very beautiful and the architecture and style of construction is Rajasthani, European and Mughal. The palace houses a museum which are very large collection of miniature paintings and a display of weapons of different king.
This palace is a large palace which severed as the residence for the Royal family of Jammu and Kashmir. Several Dogra rulers lived in this palace. Maharaja Hari Singh was the last occupant before he moved to Hari Niwas Palace. The palace complex consists of courtyards, Halls, Pink Palace, Sheesh Mahal etc. Sheesh Mahal or Glass House is a unique palatial building and is worth visiting. Dogra Art museum is located within this palace. I felt the palace can be better maintained. Mubarak mandi complex is located in Panjtirthii.It is best place as it has ancient times build ,there is a museum and amzing place to click photo . It back side there is a river known as tawi who flows from there .this give you an amazing scene. The architecture of the palace is blended with European , Mughal and Rajasthani styles, bringing forth a unique blend of different cultures, • The Museum also has a library having a collection of around 25000 books.
Inside we could see the marvellous portrait of pandit Nehru .wherever we stand either left or right we will note that he looks at us in all directions I have not seen like one anywhere so astonishing work! The Panel inspected the pace of work and sought details of execution and allied works from the concerned functionaries .The Panel expressed concern over the slow progress on the project and called upon the concerned functionaries to speed up the pace so that the restoration works are executed in time.It directed the concerned to take care of the original architectural features of the site while executing the renovation works of the complex to maintain the original glory of this precious heritage. It also directed the concerned for taking appropriate measures for restricting the entry of unauthorized persons and vehicles in the main gates. The Panel directed the concerned to undertake immediate repair of the wooden main gate which is in dilapidated condition and can cause harm to the passerby.These renovated buildings are being used for holding exhibitions and tourists, and local people are regularly visiting the site to see its beauty.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has said a master plan for the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, the seat of Dogra rulers in Jammu, would be prepared. Consultants will be preparing a master plan for the entire Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex. After that conservation strategies for each and individual buildings will be worked out, the officials concerned were asked for swift completion of the work on Royal court and Darbar Hall. The consultants have been asked to first go for structural investigations which will be followed by geo-technical services for structural assessment of buildings and ground penetrating radar service to understand archeological remains underground. The consultants were instructed to create a vision document for entire complex and accordingly set priorities for conservation and adaptive reuse of buildings.
The royal cultural imprints in Jammu and Kashmir are fast losing their sheen due to political neglect, especially in Jammu region which saw discrimination since the fall of the Dogra dynasty in 1947.Also, the non-assertive local populace, too, has failed to safeguard its heritage due to seven decades of political discrimination which the region Almost a decade later, however, no significant headway has been made in the project. Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society, issued directions for identifying agencies other than the ASI having relevant expertise in conservation of heritage sites, so that they were entrusted with the work to restore the buildings on a fast-track mode. Since the state always faced discrimination, political uncertainties and various problems from militancy, preservation and conservation of state’s legacies never bothered the government. Such approach is fast eroding the cultural and heritage significance of the state.
A major problem in the preservation of the 14-acre land housing the royal inheritance is that neither the governing body meetings are held regularly to check the pace of developmental works nor the NGOs and development societies formed to give feedback take their work seriously.
