In J&K, there is no shortage of ration after execution of National Food Security Act in the state, but indeed government lacks proficient distribution system which is unfeasible to attain without digitization and the coordination of local administrations.
However, to rationalize the distribution structure of ration, it requires to systemize district level monitoring authority (DLMA) and tehsil level monitoring authority (TLMA), so that the prospect of pilferage, hoarding and profiting could be minimized.
Incongruously, the passive role of vigilance monitoring committees and other stakeholders have consequently led to demote the concept of community contribution in the public distribution system.
Particularly, there is augmented in the reports of anti-consumer practices in various parts of the state, while no serious concern has been shown over the reports. Amid cut this, consumers demand focused attention from concerned department and local administration especially in far-flung areas where the probability of black marketing and jagged profiting is more
Pertinently, delay on the side of Aadhaar seeding has also put a great difficulty in enforcing transparency at all levels. Taking Aadhaar enrolling under missionary mode is continuously hanging in balance. The practice of pilferage of ration is still prevailing because of not keeping a close check on fair price shops, rations depots, as it become a major menace which adds to the problems of common people. Example of it includes the pilferage of kerosene oil, the reports of which are common.
Adopting the alleyway of digitization, privatization and automation can make the public distribution system more efficient, proficient and prompt.
