Agriculture sector can play a strategic role in the process of economic development of a Jammu and Kashmir, whereas it has already made a significant contribution to the economic prosperity of advanced countries and its role in the economic development of less developed countries of vital importance.
Therefore, the State government needs to undertake several welfare initiatives to ensure that the farmers get the requisite technological and monitoring interventions so that there is increase in agricultural production which would consequently result in their economical uplift.
Whereas, the several initiatives taken by the central and the state government, need proper execution and implementation so these would go a long way in ensuring that the lot of farming community and agriculturists gets the requisite upliftment.
Notably, the government is not aware of the problems being faced by this vital community of our society and therefore welfare programmes have not undertaken which can ensure that these are redressed properly and economic emancipation of these is ensured.
However, the initiatives being undertaken by the Prime Minister, they would ensure that the farmer’s income is doubled by 20222 and the state has also adopted them. But all this need new scientific interventions in the agriculture sector would also give the requisite boost to the agricultural produce and the farming community should also adopt these.
Prospectively, the recent measure of the central government to enhance the compensation to the border shelling victims would also provide the necessary assistance to the people residing there who are mostly agriculturists. Moreover, the quantum of assistance need to be increased vis a vis,the house damages, livestock and other related things which would provide the necessary succor to these who have to bare brunt of the border shelling.
Pertinently, ensuring effective decentralization of powers to the gross root level besides also ensuring the proper implementation and formulation of the developmental plans of the rural areas making them area and need based, is a desideratum. The people living in rural areas especially the farming community should also participate in these in large numbers.
Particularly, the ring road affected farmers union who projected several issues a related to the acquisition and compensation to the people whose properties are to be acquired while undertaking work on the prestigious ring road project. They should be assured for all their genuine concerns would be taken care of and redressed properly.
