The farmers in Jammu and Kashmir have been facing the area specific problems which required to identified and addressed but the state government has lost in the implementation of various development programs and farmers welfare schemes in the state, which has caused the decrease in productivity level crops.
Indeed, farmers demand effective steps and measures to increase yield level of crops with special orientation to Agri-Eco situations and Market potential, while concerned authorities has not shown any seriousness to implement the measures for the resurgence of Departmental Seed Multiplications farms. Thus, the scheme of public private affiliation to progress productivity and their economic capability is hanging in balance.
Particularly, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which has been started in the Jammu Division, would provide insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crop as a result of natural calamities, pests & diseases, this undertaken initiative is a welcome step. But lack of a prospective comprehensive plan for effective implementation is not showing good results.
Notably, state government have to only show the good progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes, which would automatically stabilize the income of farmers to ensure their continuance in farming, more it would encourage farmers to adopt innovative and modern agriculture practices and obviously there it would ensure the flow of credit to the agriculture sector.
Pertinently, for the coming crop season adequate arrangement of seed and fertilizer necessitate in farming areas of the state, meanwhile the Department of agriculture Jammu has claimed that 24329 MTs of Neem Coated Urea, 16142 MTs of DAP, 5100 MTs of MOP and 1000 MTs of NPK fertilizer has been made available to the farmers of the state till date.
