CBSE affiliated schools continue to refer parents to selected book sellers

Despite getting the repeated instructions from the government, some of the private schools, which are affiliated with the CBSE continue to refer the parents to go for the selected book sellers.
As per the details available with the Young Bites, taking a strict action against after getting the complaints from the parents against some schools, the government has asked the CBSE affiliated schools to comply with the orders of district consumer forum and refrain from ‘sale as well as referring of particular book sellers to the parents/students for purchase of note books, books, uniforms and other stationery materials studying in their schools.’
In a order issued Joint Controller Legal Metrology V. S Sambyal cautioned the school heads and owners that violation of directions of District Forum will invite contempt proceedings against them.
Taking to the Young Bites, Sunil Sharma, a top official, said that the LMD department had convened a meeting with management of CBSE affiliated schools, civil society members and Consumer activists here to intimate them about the judgement delivered by chairman District consumer Forum Jammu.
“The Forum in its order banned sale as well as referring of particular book sellers to the parents/students for purchase of note books, books, uniforms and other stationery materials studying in their schools. The judgement has been dispatched to all CBSE affiliated schools for implementation,’ he further added.
The senior official further informed that any school who has not received the judgement can collect the same from his office for implementation. He hoped that the schools shall voluntarily comply with the judgement.
Failure to comply with the judgement will amount to contempt proceedings.
LMD asked the schools to comply with the judgement within week’s time
“After the lapse of scheduled time, departmental Squads will conduct inspections alongwith consumer activists and shall initiate contempt proceedings against defaulters” told Munish Sharma, who was also present in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by prominent consumer activists Des Raj Danish, President Consumer Protection organization, S. K Gupta President Consumer Welfare Association and management members of CBSE affiliated schools.
