Escalating corruption in Revenue Department

In J&K, the maximum number of corruption cases reported from the revenue department, the increasing number of corruption cases in the revenue department is a cause for concern.
Hence stringent action would be taken against government staffers indulging in corruption, and revenue officials to immediately suspend those nabbed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.
However, departmental inquiries are not speeded up and there is usually delay in giving verdicts. Suspended officials are reinstated before their acquittal by court. Moreover, there is need to emphasising for maintaining transparency in the day-to-day work.
Notably, Unless the mindset changes, corruption will continue to thrive and we need to create awareness regarding such things. While better awareness, people alert can make it easier to lay traps on corrupted officials.
Pertinently, the department should speed up inquiries and initiate action against the corrupt. There should be zero tolerance on corruption, any Patwari or any other revenue official found involved in corrupt practices would be strictly punished in accordance with laws. The list of present posting of all Patwaris and other officials along with their date of joining should be compiled so that a transparent transfer policy can be farmed accordingly. The Officials of Revenue Department need to widen their role and perform duties with an objective to provide justice to the people, and the actions of officials must lead in making a positive contribution to the society. Do not let the people move from one office to other for redressal of their issues or getting revenue related services. the status of disposal of revenue cases, all such cases need focused attention so that they are disposed off in a timely manner and speedy justice is delivered to people.
