Chairman LC inaugurates mega health screening camp Around 1000 children provided health care facility

Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today said that Government is fully committed for the overall development of the far flung and remote pockets of the State and focused attention is being given to augment facilities to the people in all sectors.

The Chairman stated this while inaugurating a mega health screening camp at Government Higher Secondary School Silmoo here today. The health camp was organized by the Department of Health Kargil under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK). Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Vikas Kundal and Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil Tsering Gyalpo accompanied the Chairman.

During the day long camp, child health screening and early intervention services were provided to around 1000 children from 0-18 years of Silmoo, Batalik and adjoining villages. Screening clinics of ENT, ophthalmology, gynecology, pediatrics, dental surgery, adolescent friendly health clinic, specialist clinic and other health streams besides testing laboratories and medicine counter were set up to extend free screening and tertiary treatment for defects at birth, deficiencies, diseases, development delays, disabilities and other ailments.

The Chairman hailed the efforts of Health Department Kargil in organizing the screening camp for the children of Batalik area. He stressed upon the doctors and paramedics to extend best possible screening facilities through the camp further adding health screening assumes great significance in Childrens’ healthy physical and mental development.

Haji Anayat said that to provide extended healthcare facilities in the district, work on the 200 bedded hospital at Kurbathang is being executed on priority and work on the project is expected to be completed soon.

While referring to the steps being taken by the Government to improve road connectivity in the district, the Chairman said that for the first time in the history of Kargil road projects worth Rs 300 crores have been sanctioned under CRF, PMGSY and other schemes.
