Tulip garden’s poor road connectivity major hindrance in attracting tourist

Tulip garden has become a major tourist spot in Sanasar. The beautiful different colored Tulips are attracting people not only from state but from other parts of country also. But the roads which they have to travel are in shambles. The roads are in poor condition and the tourist repent when they reach the garden.
State Tourism Department has tried its best to give a hype to the Tulip garden, without giving a thought on the roads connecting the garden with the National highway. The tourists are facing hardships while travelling on the mountainous route between Patnitop and Sanasar.
The road between Patnitop to Nathatop is well maintained due to efforts of Army but beyond that the road is in very bad condition. In recent years, no effort has been made to complete the road or improve its condition to provide better connectivity.
Despite announcing large number of schemes for promotion of local tourist spots across Jammu region, it appears the State Tourism Department in Jammu has failed to highlight the importance of better road connectivity.
Tour operators from outside the State have also complained many times before the authorities to take the road connectivity as a serious concern so that the spot can be promoted to improve the revenue from tourism.
A Jammu based family said, “After watching pictures of Srinagar Tulip Garden we decided to spend some time in Sanasar but were in a shock when we came across poor road conditions. We felt sorry for Tourism Department and all those people from Floriculture Department who worked hard to create this Tulip Garden. The poor road conditions will continue to be a major hindrance and the state tourism minister who is keen in promoting scenic places must assert his authority to get better roads for such high value picnic spots”.
