Notwithstanding the fact that prestigious artificial Lake Project in Jammu after missing several deadlines has now again missed another dead line.
Notwithstanding the fact that few months back it was stated by the government that both the projects will be completed well in time. The irrigation & flood control department which had undertaken construction of design and construction of Auto Mechanically operated Barrage across River Tawi under which Artificial Lake is one of the major components was targeted to complete it by the end of March 2018. But still slow pace of work is going on.
Talking to Young Bites correspondant Advocate Dinesh Singh Jamwal said that from several years we are listening about this project besides several others and become hopeful after a deadline was issued for completion. Yet it is unfortunate that the concerned department has adopted a lethargic approach.
He further added that indeed the project if had been completed well in time will not only boost the tourism in the State but also open new avenues for job in Jammu.
Years back after several technical and legal issues, the design was made by the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and same was approved by the Central Water Commission. The project had already jumped several deadlines for completion, besides there were several speculations earlier that the government has stopped the idea of Artificial Lake over Tawi.
With the announcement by the concerned Minister few months back the people of Jammu have called it a positive but the much delay that too in the summer tourist season has disappointed them.
Those concerned with tourism Industry in Jammu stated that with the train reaching Katra, the tourism in Jammu has gone low, mostly in Jammu city tourist are avoiding due to lack of developed tourist places. If the State Government is serious about boosting tourism in Jammu then the work on those such projects which are in pipeline must be taken up expeditiously and completed at the earliest so tourist can have interest in visiting Jammu too
