Kangan witness curfew to prevent protests

To stem protests against the killing of a youth in police action, curfew was imposed in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday today.



An official said that curfew has been imposed to prevent “law and order problems. Reports said that Jamia Masjid in the area was also closed and Friday pray was not allowed in the mosque.



Adding that huge contingent of police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police force (crpf) was deployed in the town.



Pertinently Gowhar Ahmad Rather (22) was grievously injured in police action on Monday following which he was admitted at SKIMS Soura where he breathed his last on Tuesday, triggering massive protests and clashes in the area.
