Jammuities again up in arms against Rohingyas

Alleges they are posing security concern for state

Jammu and Kashmir which has been facing insurgency from decades has now been facing serious concerns in terms of security after thousands of Rohingya Muslim who have taken shelter in Jammu and its surroundings, with Union Ministry of Home Affairs taking the matter into cognizance. Several times fraudulently Aadhaar cards, ration cards, fake permanent residence certificates and election identity proof were recovered from them ringing bells among the security corners.
The issue now has taken up seriously among various section of Jammu raising strong voices that Rohingya must not be allowed to stay in Jammu at any cost. The Panther Party lodging strong against the state government asked the government to deport Rohingya Muslims and Bangladeshis from Jammu as public resentment is brewing up. As many as over 40,000 Rohingya Muslims live in India as refugees — thousands of them in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per the reports there are at least 5,743 Burmese nationals (Rohingya Muslims) living in the State.
These Rohingyas who can been seen on every roadside and streets doing petty business like vendors, begging, working as labor class have swelled multifold with in short span of few years and their fast mushrooming with fake documents have put the security agencies on high alert with people from all section of Jammu demanding early deport of these Rohingyas.
Talking to Young Bites advocate Dinesh Singh Jamwal said that neither the government of Jammu and Kashmir is signatory to any United Nation’s treaty nor Article 370 allows illegal foreign settlers for any permanent settlement in the state.
Besides some of Bangladesh who are living illegally in Jammu, there are Rohingya Muslims who are living in Jammu and Samba districts also.
In the last few days several rallies and protest by different organization viz Jammu Citizens Forum', Team Jammu comprising civil society members, retired bureaucrats, retired police personnel, lawyers, journalists, Chamber of Commerce and Industries and many social organizations who raised their voice strongly terming it discrimination with Jammu and demanding early and necessary steps to be adopted by the state government so that Jammu people can have a sign of relief in matter of security which was at stake by these illegally staying Bangladeshi and Rohingya, despite the fact government is still looking out possibilities to handle the situation taking any adverse turn.
