Photo Journalist Kamran Yousuf, who was arrested on stone-pelting charges last year, has been released from Delhi jail Wednesday morning, reports said.
Kamran hails from South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A Delhi based Kashmiri Journalist said that about 35 Kashmiri journalists in Delhi (one in Doha) contributed to organize Kamran Yousuf's bail surety. “This solidarity is heartwarming. Two photo journalists based in Delhi had come to give their camera equipment as surety, the court asked for FD of Rs 50 thousand while 35 journalists contributed.”
Delhi court on Monday had granted bail to Kamran, who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in an alleged funding case six months ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Sherawat allowed the bail plea of Yousuf, asking him to furnish two sureties of Rs 50,000.
Yousuf was summoned to a police station in Pulwama on September 4 last year and handed over to the NIA a day after. He was later flown to Delhi by the NIA.
Opposing the bail plea, the NIA had said some witnesses had confirmed that Yousuf was shouting "anti-national slogans" and was seen "stone pelting". (CNS)
