Nowshera agitation enters day 23

Nowshera is observing a complete shutdown from last 23 days. The people of Nowshera and Sundebani are demanding the status of District for Nowshera and a separate post of Deputy Commissioner for it. The govt. has decided to appoint ADC for Nowshera and Sunderbani who will sit for 7 days each in Nowshera and Sunderbani. But the people of Nowshera have not agreed with this decision taken by the govt. The people say that they need separate ADC for Nowshera.
The people of Nowshera started chanting the Pro Pakistani slogans and they also protested against the present BJP MLA. The people demolished the foundation stone laid by the BJP.
The people of Nowshera said that in 1968 the then govt. had decided to give district status to Nowshera, but then later gave the status of district to Rajouri instead of Nowshera.
The business community of Nowshera is in total support of the current agitation. The president of “Vyapar Mandal” Subash Chander Kapoor has also strongly condemned the govt take on the agitation. He said,” the whole business is closed since last 23 days, but the govt. is not listening to their demands. Few days back BJP President along with three ministers came to their place and assured for positive step in favor of Nowshera before Feb 10, but till date nothing has been done from the govt. side”.
