JMC launches drive against encroachers, illegal hoardings

As per instructions issued by Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Ramesh Kumar, a special drive was launched today against illegal hoardings, rehries/pharies and other such encroachments causing traffic congestion and obstructing free movement of pedestrians on footpaths.

The teams and the flying squad of JMC under the supervision of Secretary, JMC, Sunaina Sharma and Assistant Commissioner (Rev.), JMC, Vinakshi Koul conducted the drive in the areas viz Sainik Colony, Canal Head to Jewel, Below Gumat, Gumat Chowk, Indira Chowk, Shalamar Road, Secretariat Road, Brigadier Ranjinder Singh Chowk, Mahespura, Kachi Chawni, Exchange Road etc.

During the drive, the teams removed 6 truckloads of illegal hoardings, rehries/pharies and also removed encroachments on the footpaths and pavements.

Jammu Municipal Corporation directed the advertisers to desist from installing hoardings without permission and instructed the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their establishments and vendors to ply their rehries only in the rehri zones established by JMC to avoid penal action against them.
