Senior leader of National Conference Muhammad Akbar Lone Saturday shouted pro-Pakistan slogans in the Legislative Assembly.

“I am a Muslim first. My sentiments were hurt when they (BJP MLAs) were shouting “Pakistan Murdabad” slogans. I couldn’t control my emotions and raised Pakistan Zindabad slogans,” Lone told the reporters.

Meanwhile, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said that Akbar Lone should not forget that NC rejects the two-nation theory on which Pakistan came into existence.

“NC MLA should not forget that he belongs to a party that rejected the two nation theory. “He should also remember the oath he swears in the name of God at the beginning of his terms. The party disowns and condemns his remarks,” Abdullah said.

He said that the entire party is of the unequivocal stand that NC MLA from Sonawari Akbar Lone has spoken out of turn and his slogans in the Legislative Assembly are completely unacceptable to the party.

Meanwhile, NC Working President said that focus needs to be on the attack and not distracted by slogans. Omar tweeted: “We need to focus on the unfortunate developments in #SunjwanArmyCamp & not get distracted by misplaced slogans.”

Meanwhile reacting to MLA’s remarks, NC spokesperson Junaid Azeem Mattu tweeted, “Just spoke to @JKNC_ President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Sahib. Dr. Sahib and the entire party is of the unequivocal stand that NC MLA from Sonawari Mr. Akbar Lone has spoken out of turn and his slogans in the Legislative Assembly are completely unacceptable to the party.”
