MAJOR TRAGEDY AVERTED, IED DEFUSED BY DODA POLICE

The alertness of a civilian and strict action by the Doda Police averted a major tragedy by diffusing an IED which was planted by the ANEs on the roadside in Bharat area.
Today District Police received an information that One Improvised Explosive Device (IED) is planted on the roadside near village Pounda on the main Bharat Road about comprising on SP Ops Doda Sh Ravinderpal Singh, Addl. SP Doda Sh Vinnay Kumar Kullar and Dy SP Hqrs Doda Sh Iftkhar Ahmed, SHO P/S Doda Inspr. Manjeet Singh rushed on the spot alongwith Bomb Disposal Squad of DPL Doda.
A team of Army (10 RR) also reached on the spot and a joint operation was launched for defusing of the IED. The movement of traffic was stopped to avert the damage to the local masses. The whole area was cordoned and the IED was defused by the BDS team of District Police and Army 10RR. The IED weighing about 10 Kgs. A major tragedy has been averted by the timely action of District Police and the Army 10RR. The whole operation was supervised by the SSP Doda Sh Mohammad Shabir.
