Lal Singh lays foundation of Rs 1.8 cr development works in Basohli ‘Ambitious projects apace to bring Basohli on tourism map’

Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh on Sunday laid foundation stones of Rs 1.8 crore development works at Lower Shara, Kakroah Plani, Bhikar, Sialog, Draman, Dhanna, Janno and Hutt of Basohli constituency and assessed public grievances in these areas. He also distributed Rs 6 lakh among 100 households as first installment under Swachh Bharat Mission for construction of latrines in Basohli Constituency.

Addressing a huge gathering at Hutt village, the Minister said that Government has prepared a comprehensive plan for Basohli town under R&B and RDD sectors to provide enhanced basic amenities to the people adding that there is no constraint of funds in developing the across constituency with modern civic amenities.

Choudhary Lal Singh said that Government’s first and foremost priority is to make provision of better basic amenities in every nook and corner of the state and areas like Basohli are receiving focused attention on this account.

Referring to the development of Basohli constituency, the Minister said work on various developmental projects is in full swing. He said with the completion of these projects is definitely going to change socio-economic condition of the people of the area. He informed that the State Government has submitted projects worth Rs 180 crore to the Central Government for the development of Ranjit Sagar Dam and other identified areas as major tourist destinations. He said that for this purpose Forest Department is going to launch steamer service in the lake for which four steamers will be pressed into service under its eco-tourism initiative shortly.

Choudhary Lal Singh informed that Government has earmarked Rs 1 crore for proper disposal of Solid and Liquid Waste of Basohli Town. He said under the project Government has sanctioned two dustbins for each household for segregated collection of bio and solid waste. He said two auto rickshaws with trolley have been put in service for door to door waste lifting and dumping at the identified place in the area.

The Minister informed that instructions have been issued to the Experts of Solid and Liquid Waste Management to take immediate action to ensure proper sanitation and collection of garbage from narrow streets of the town.

The Minister also visited the sites of ongoing developmental works in interiors of Basohli Constituency and asked the concerned executing agencies to expedite the pace of work on these projects and complete them in a stipulated time frame.

During the tour, locals put forth their chatter of demands including providing of adequate drinking water and power supply. Choudhary Lal Singh gave them patient hearing and resolved several issues on the spot. He also asked the officers to look into other genuine urgent nature of public interest issues for an early redressal without any delay for the convenience of the general masses.

The Minister directed the district administration to meet the fixed targets in a time bound manner and utilize the earmarked funds for current fiscal in full so that no area would remain without development.

Among others, Chief Conservator of Forests Farooq Gillani, Managing Director SFC Suresh Gupta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Basohli Sanjay Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Development Rajeev Khajuria besides other Senior Officers of district administration were accompanied the Minister during his tour.
