A woman that too in belt forces, what else do we need to say that today the women in our state are empowered in true sense. We are talking about Ms Ranu Kundal, DSP City Traffic North, a lady in whose village of ‘Maitra’ birth of girl child was not good news at all those days.
That time when the birth of girl child was not considered as auspicious, her mother was her background in supporting her education. For her mother there was hardly any difference between girl and boy. With a strong support of her mother she completed her graduation from Women College Gandhi Nagar and post graduation from University of Jammu. Regarding her initial years, she got selected in the year 1990 in Police as Sub Inspector. She worked in city Thana and later she as served as SHO women cell and later on she got transferred to SOG Srinagar. She served as the first lady officer to work in anti militancy operation and worked there for 5 years. Later she was promoted to Inspector and then DSP. Many eyes were raised against her ability. People doubted that how can a lady carry AK 47 and fight militants. The only words that inspired were of her mother who repeatedly motivated her to pursue her dreams. She never felt disheartened of being a lady in such a manly profession. The big motivation for has been her family, her brothers and sisters.
She suggested the girls who inspire to join belt forces to choose field as per their choices. She always wanted to do something different, she wanted to set an example in the society that girls are no less than boys. She never felt out of the place in the male dominated profession.
She has a very good message to all the parents whose daughters want to join the professions which are daring, or which are different from others, that they should encourage their girls to pursue their dreams.
