Categorically J&K is gradually becoming an educational hub with establishments of institutes of national importance like IIT, IIM and AIIMS, moreover government is keen to set up more education institutions but all is only an illusion.
Smart Class and ICT labs is a distant dream, the students of government schools don’t have proper place to sit. They are very far from quality education. No fencing, toilet and lab blocks add to their plight.
It’s not the story of another state, but in J&K, take a move from District Udhampur, Aknoor, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Banihal, Ramban and many more, where the government schools, located at remote areas, have worsen conditions.
By one or another communication means, for instance through social media, local people are disseminating their plight of poor education, which witnesses that quality of education in the State is only an illusion
It’s not only classrooms and teachers our government schools in the state lack, they lack basic infrastructure too. Government schools struggle with poor facilities, unskilled teachers and high dropout rates.
Ironically, when teachers get posted to rural schools, it’s a known fact they will either go on leave or apply for a transfer immediately.
Present scenario of education is going through a bewilder change. On the one side Right to education Act provides that every child should have an equal right to a good education, while another side there is inequality in providing quality education to each and everyone Jammu and Kashmir.
State Government and Director School Education need to look upon lack of infrastructure, low turnout, unqualified teachers, and general poor quality of education in urban and rural government schools.
J&K needs education especially rural education, problems in rural education is lack of facilities and their poverty is a hurdle in their education.
Remarkably, priority was on accessibility of education but now, the priority is shifted to quality of education only for resourceful people.
Major steps may have been taken up by the state government for improving the infrastructure and logistics facilitates in the educational institutes, but consequently these steps are not showing in positive results.
Only assuring is not sufficient, time demands action, the people especially poor are asking for all possible help for providing quality education to the children’s of the area.
Optimistically, Jammu is fast emerging as an educational hub with major premiere institutes coming up. Thus, it entails to have modern and quality education government schools at primary, middle and secondary level, which would push over youth to for major premiere institutes.
