Sticking any desire for “Acche Din'”, around 45 lakh population in J&K have disappointing news. The required sugar quota given through CAPD outlets, has been ceased from this month. Not just this, the CAPD sugar will be given just to the BPL/AAY (PHH) class individuals in the State and that as well, at the rate of Rs 25 rather than Rs 13.50 for each kg. This is the second blow of 'sharp value climb' to the J&K buyers in only one year. Prior, in November 2016, the Government had raised the cost of Atta from Rs 7.80 to Rs 13 and that of rice from Rs 10 to Rs 15 for every kg.
After the execution of 'Food Security Act' in the J&K by the BJP-PDP Government, there has been no ease to the hapless ration consumers in the State from the scarcity of food. While supply of sugar has been seriously influenced amid last one and half year in perspective of postponement in tenders and non-obsession rates with the contractors outside the State, the supply of Atta as well, extraordinarily in rural areas saw deficiency amid this period.
Criticizing the move several organizations expressed great concern over the step motherly behavior of CAPD authorities with the inhabitants of Jammu province. Several protests are held criticizing the State administration and especially CAPD Department for initiating steps to disburse the ration.
As the decision regarding the supply of ration material to needy and poor consumers is just to make a mockery of them. In the past, 30 Kg. Atta, 5 Kg. rice, sugar at 750 Gm. per head, was disbursed to the consumers at control rate, but now decision of reduction of ration has created chaos amongst these consumers.
There are around 1.19 crore individuals getting apportion through CAPD terminals/outlets. Around 74 lakh have been enrolled in the class of PHH or at the end of the day living Below Poverty Line (BPL) and fall in the classification of poorest of poor people (AAY). Rest 45 lakh have been appeared in the Non Priority House Hold (NPHH) classification. In this way, this 45 lakh populace has been denied the collect sugar supply in the whole State while 62 % of the State populace which has been appeared in BPL/AAY (PHH) classification, will keep on getting demand sugar at the rate of Rs 25 for every kg.
As central Govt has now ceased endowment in every one of the States and State Government took the choice to stop the impose sugar for NPHH class from this month. Confirmations of giving apportion according to 2011 evaluation of this Government have bombed, general society is denied off even the old existing quantity of proportion. At introduce, they are getting barely 50 % of their aggregate distributed quantity of proportion while, in last around seven months, demand sugar has been given to the general population just twice or thrice.
Taking to Young Bites correspondent Shiv Shakti Sena members urged the Governor for taking cognizance of this issue and initiate appropriate steps for re-analyzing these calculations and enhance the quota of ration material per head so that the consumers may be able to get proper ration material for their survival. Talking to Young Bites correspondent several consumers stated that in case this decision is not withdrawn immediately, they will be forced to intensify agitation against the CAPD Department.
