VC SKUAST-K calls on Governor

Prof. Nazeer Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), met Governor N. N. Vohra, Chancellor of the University, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Prof. Nazeer Ahmad briefed the Governor about several issues relating to infrastructural development, financial stringencies, re-organisation of available staff strength, filling up vacant posts of scientific staff and academic reform.
Apprising the Governor about the University’s activities and achievements, Prof. Ahmad informed that the University had conducted the Common Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programmes at different Centres in Srinagar and Jammu in which 8000 candidates appeared for 550 seats; during the current year 35 students from this University qualified NET and Agriculture Research Service Preliminary Examination; 11 students qualified Jr. Research Fellowship in Animal Biotechnology; since May 2017 University secured 10 externally funded projects worth Rs. 4 crore from different funding agencies in the country; the Integrated Bee Keeping Development Centre/Centre of Excellence in Bee Keeping was launched at University’s Shalimar Campus.
VC Informed that the ICAR has sanctioned Rs. 3.5 crores for infrastructure development of KVKs at Budgam, Anantnag and Kargil; Agriculture Production Department of the State Government has allotted 100 kanals of land at Haran, Soibugh, Budgam, for establishment of KVK; construction of KVK Kargil has commenced.
Complimenting the VC for the progress achieved the Governor stressed the need for high attention being paid on sustained basis to continually improving the teaching programmes and achieving tangible outcomes in all the research programmes.
