Srinagar, May 24 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) strongly condemning the arrest spree launched against the students and youth by Indian police and troops across the territory has said that such brutal tactics cannot deter the Kashmiri people from demanding their right to self-determination.

The DeM General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen, in a statement in Srinagar said that the occupational forces had intensified nocturnal raids across the Kashmir Valley and students were their main target. She said that the Kashmir dispute was not the issue of three districts or 5 percent population and that every nook and corner of the territory was echoing with the same slogan of Aazadi from India.

Nahida Nasreen said that the people of Kashmir were actually protesting against the occupation of India and demanding freedom from it. “However, they are showered with pellets and bullets. Then, the people protest against the use of force. Therefore, it is not an issue of three districts but of the whole population of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said.

She said that India should understand that it could not muzzle the Kashmiris’ voice for freedom from its bondage. “There is absolute hatred against India and its local stooges including NC and PDP in Jammu and Kashmir. This is not going to decrease rather it will increase,” she said, adding that it was better for India to quit Jammu and Kashmir. She said that Indian civil society had a responsibility and it should come forward and develop a consensus among the people of India that it was better for them to end the Indian occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, a DeM spokesperson said that the grounds of detention of party Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associate, Fehmeeda Sofi, had been given to them. She said that there was nothing new in the new FIR lodged against Aasiya Andrabi, adding that till date all the 20 PSA invoked against the party Chairperson since 1993 had same grounds that she wants freedom from India and wants an end to India’s illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir.
