Scores of Kashmir University students on Tuesday held a protest demonstration in University campus demanding release of MERC student, Tahir Hussain Mir, who has been detained under PSA.
The student protesters raising slogans in favour of Aazadi were demanding the intervention of Vice Chancellor in ensuring the early release of Tahir.

A resident of Bandipora in northern part of Kashmir, Tahir, 24, was arrested in September 2016 for what police termed “disrupting law and order and stone pelting”. He was slapped with the draconian public safety act.

A son of a late police constable, Tahir is presently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar.

He was also sacked from his job in the state education department where he had been working as a laboratory assistant.

Pertinently, Tahir’s handcuffed photographs went viral on social networking sites last week when he was brought to appear for his Ist Semester examinations.
