JPVM, AJHLA welcome Sethi’s statement for making Jammu a separate tourist destination

Jammu, Apr 20 Appreciating the celebrations of Jammu Mahautsav, Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal (JPVM) and All Jammu Hotel Lodges Association (AJHLA) has jointly congratulated Minister of State for Tourism, Ms Priya Sethi, Director General Tourism Farooq Shah and Director Tourism Jammu Ms Sarita Chouhan for their concerted efforts to make Jammu as an independent tourist destination. While addressing a joint meeting of JPVM and AJHLA, Mr Inderjeet Khajuria lauded the initiatives taken to make Mahautsav a grand success. He added that such steps of celebrating the Jammu Mela & other festivals by the state government will definitely promote the tourism, which hitherto were not taken in right perspective, besides this Mahautsav has been celebrated after a gap of 8 years. He said that the celebrations of such festivals in Jammu will create a breathing space for the Jammu tourism, which otherwise is on ventilator.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Pawan Gupta president, AJHLA said that festival could not reach to its scheduled conclusion due to sad demise of former Governor of state Mr GC Saxena, and the government had to cancel the ongoing festival for two days to mourn the death. Me Gupta said that instead of cancellation, the festival should have been postponed for celebration after the mourning period. This would have yielded full fruits to the Jammu tourism, besides conveying a message to the entire nation and abroad that the Jammu region is free from militancy and disturbances, which otherwise is counted as disturbed state. This message was would have been beneficial for the state as whole to dispel the disturbed status of the state. He urged the government to make at least five mega festivals in a year mandatory for celebration to promote Jammu tourism to make it an independent tourist destination. The major drawbacks are lack of wide publicity at prominent places like Bus Stands, Railway Stations, Taxi Stands, Auto Stands of Jammu, Lakhanpur and Katra.
Making suggestions in the field of punblicity, Mr Gupta said that the display of large permanent hoeardings at conspicuous places, distribution of broachers and handbills depicting the historical and religious places besides Wet land Gharan, Wild Life Sanctuary Manda Deer Park, Mubarak Mandi and Border Tourism.
